Assistant Professor, Agricultural Economics and Economics Departments, Montana State University

Diane Charlton is an Assistant Professor in the Agricultural Economics and Economics Department at Montana State University. She studies labor, development, and agricultural economics. She recently authored an article in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics with J. Edward Taylor that identifies a trend in the farm labor supply from rural Mexico. Their analysis shows that the workforce from rural Mexico is currently transitioning out of farm work, and it suggests that U.S. and Mexican farms will have to adjust to a smaller supply of workers by investing in more efficient labor management practices and new labor-saving technologies.
