Senior Industrial Hygienist, California Department of Pesticide Regulation
Harvard has been a scientist with the Department of Pesticide Regulation’s Worker Health and Safety Branch since 1980. He has conducted several pesticide exposure studies, including the Mather Methyl Bromide Structural Study, the Jazzercise Dermal Transfer Study and various investigations of fumigant air concentrations in produce processing facilities, field applications, and cold storage facilities. He has authored over 50 Health and Safety Reports for DPR. He is certified by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene and is a member of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienist. As the Senior Industrial Hygienist at DPR, he provides consultative assistance to other government agencies’ investigations of pesticide exposure events. He provides training in pesticide safety issues and is lead technical person for regulatory development of personal protective equipment and engineering control requirements. Harvard was head author of the respiratory protection regulations in California and lead technical expert on the recently adopted personal protective equipment regulations and closed system amendments. Harvard has a Bachelor’s in Genetics from Cal.
