DR. JONATHAN KAPLAN
Dr. Jonathan Kaplan
Professor, Department of Economics, Sacramento State University
Jonathan Kaplan is a professor in the Economics Department at Sacramento State University. He earned his doctorate in agricultural and resource economics from the University of California, Davis in 1999. Prior to taking a position at Sacramento State University he served for three years as an economist with the United States Department of Agriculture Economic Research Service. His research interests include water resource management, agricultural-environmental modeling, and disease management in perennial crop production. Most recently, he estimated the estimated the cost of Pierce’s Disease and the benefits of research to mitigate its effect. Currently, he is studying the costs and benefits of adopting trunk disease preventative practices in young vineyards prior to the appearance of symptomatic vines.
