Dr. Timothy Miles

Assistant Professor, School of Natural Sciences, CSU Monterey Bay

 

Dr. Timothy Miles was born in southwest Michigan and received a B.S. in Biology from Western Michigan University in 2005 and a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology at Michigan State University in 2011. His thesis work focused on a postharvest disease and various fungal pathogens of blueberries, grapes and strawberries. Afterwards, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Idaho focusing on potato diseases before taking a position at the USDA-ARS station in Salinas focusing on molecular diagnostics of Phytophthora species. Dr. Miles is interested in molecular diagnostics of plant pathogens and general mycology. Also, he is excited about conducting basic and applied research of economically important soil borne and postharvest diseases of various specialty crops along the Central Coast.
